Let's Get the Party Started!

Okay now that we have determined that we all need to get healthy and in shape.  Lets begin with an official start date.  I think it should be Jan. 3rd or Jan 11th.

Then we set our goals and expected milestones in achieving them.

It seems like most people are good with a Monday weigh in.  I think we should do it in the am rather than pm.

What else????  Lets start blogging our thoughts and ideas so we are clear when we begin our QUEST FOR SUCCESS!!

Also the exercise piece.  Regina has offered to look into 5k/10k and a 1/2 marathon.  These are great goals for exercising and can be fun Really Richard & Patricia!!!

  1. Yay!! Great job Jessica! I will work on getting the 5k training schedule. It will be really easy, I promise. The hard part will be lacing the shoes and getting out the door. That's why I'm so excited to have this support.

I understand if people aren't into this, but you'll have to commit to something if you want change. I think running/ walking is the easiest because it doesn't take added coordination, a gym membership or crazy equipment to do. All you need is a good pair of shoes and to get out your front door. Oh and about 30 mins a day a couple of times a week to get started.

  2. I agree with you Regina. Walking or running require the least equipment and expense. Once I begin a good routine and make it a habit, I feel cheated when I miss a day. Mandy knows what I'm talking about. She weaved her treadmill workout right into her morning and now it's just a habit for her and her efforts really show! So I like to commit to doing it daily. Mike and I started today. Instead of driving to Henry's, we walked. I've found that the best thing to do is figure out where my best window of opportunity will be every day and I just go. So you do have to plan for it because with our busy lives we don't have the same schedule every day so we have to plan ahead.

BTW: I got a new Nano for Christmas from my honey bunny! Whoohoo! Does anyone else have one??It has a pedometer in it and the recommended goal is 10,000 steps a day. Also, does anyone know a good playlist I can download?

    Over and out!

  3. That Nano sounds like a great idea except mine is old and doesnt' have a pedometer! I am excited to train for a 5K, have never done one before. I have a Wii Fit that my family bought me for Christmas, its pretty neat since you can track your weight, BMI, exercise, etc. I have been combining that with my walk/run treadmill routine for strength and toning...looking for some good results. Have a Happy New Year everyone! Talk to you in 2011!

  4. Hey. I'd like to recommend that we all remember to identify ourselves when we post. It's hard to tell who is saying what. It's Regina, by the way.

I'm getting organized and psyched to start my training and food modifications tomorrow. :-). So excited to take this journey with you ALL. I cannot tell you how motivated I feel to know we are all doing this together. Love you all. Happy, healthy new year to us all.
